Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Melfort, Tisdale and Nipawin area (Update: watch ended)

EAST CENTRAL — Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the area around Melfort, Tisdale and Nipawin. The watch was put into effect on June 29 at 10:43 am.

EAST CENTRAL — Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the area around Melfort, Tisdale and Nipawin.

The watch was put into effect on June 29 at 10:43 am.

"Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain," said Environment Canada. "Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches."

A more serious severe thunderstorm warning has been put into effect to the northwest, around Prince Albert Provincial Park and La Ronge.

UPDATE: The watch ended at 3:12 pm.
