Soonias enters guilty pleas in chase

Guilty pleas have been entered by an individual charged in a police chase incident that took place in the RM of Battle River March 6.

Kyle Soonias appeared by closed-circuit television in North Battleford Provincial Court Wednesday and has entered guilty pleas to nine of the charges against him.

Included among the guilty pleas are impaired driving, dangerous driving, flight from police, possession of stolen property, possession of break and enter tools, break and enter and mischief. Soonias also entered a not guilty plea to assaulting a police officer with a weapon, but pled guilty to the lesser offence of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

Several other counts against Soonias are to be withdrawn by the Crown at the conclusion of sentencing.

Sentencing has been scheduled for July 9 in provincial court. A pre-sentence report has been ordered. Soonias remains remanded to that date.
