Sounds of Summer returned with Saskatoon-based musician Greg Torwalt performing at the Humboldt Gallery.

"The show was awesome!" Torwalt said. "I had a lot of fun performing for all of the people who came out."

Jean Price with the Humboldt Gallery said that attendance was great; the performance drew about 50 people, which is about average for Sounds of Summer.

"I think it gives people a nice place to come and listen to music, give them something different to have in the evenings," she said.

The artists who perform at Sounds of Summer are from Humboldt originally or still live in Humboldt.

Torwalt has been playing piano since he was five and began performing his original music at the age of 14.

"I enjoy performing because I'm able to share the music that I write with the audience," he said. "I love connecting with the audience and making them feel what I'm feeling when I sing."

Price says the idea behind the event is to get people out to experience the gallery to experience both art and music.

"The venue was great," Torwalt said. "It was nice playing while being surrounded by different artwork."

Price also hopes that people just have a good time and experience something new in their city.

"I hope that they're exposed to a musician they haven't heard before, or get to enjoy a musician they have heard before, and get to enjoy the gallery," Price said.
