Participants at the Maidstone Oilmen's Golf Tournament appreciated the appearance of the sun as they enjoyed their annual event, Friday, June 11 at Silver Lake Golf Course.

Seventy-two golfers competed in 17 flights with cash prizes being presented to the top three golfers in each flight.

The winner of the championship flight was Maidstone's Chris Hartman.

Sponsors and volunteers make the event a success every year and this year was no exception as the golfers enjoyed fine hospitality and door prizes for everyone.

The MS Society raised money by selling lucky golf balls on the course and 50/50 tickets throughout the day taking in more than $800.

One of the highlights of the event is the presentation of the Ernold Priest memorial trophy for the most sportsmanlike golfer. Players vote on the honour during the tournament and this year the award was presented to Walter Kohuch of Maidstone.

Friendly competition and the opportunity to get to know others in the industry out of the field and the on the course make this a popular event every year at Silver Lake Regional Park.
