Between Friday, Feb.16, 6 a.m. and Monday, Feb. 19, 6 a.m., Battlefords RCMP responded to 168 calls for service including 19 calls resulting in various charges, including but not limited to the following:
Feb. 17
1:51 a.m. - Police received a call that a 17-year-old male youth had assaulted his grandmother in North Battleford. Police attended and located the youth inside the residence. The youth failed to comply with direction and assaulted on of the arresting officers. The youth has been charged for assault on his grandmother and assault on the peace officer.
2:10 a.m. - Police were conducting regular patrols in Battleford when a vehicle was spotted drifting slightly in its lane. When the police attempted to stop the vehicle it immediately began to accelerate driving through North Battleford at a high rate of speed. Police stopped pursuing the vehicle for safety concerns for the public and the vehicle driver attempted to negotiate a sharp right turn and crashed into parked vehicles in a driveway. The male driver later identified as a 28-year-old North Battleford man exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
The Police Dog Section was deployed and located the suspect. The suspect continued to attempt to flee and the dog was deployed. The suspect was subsequently arrested.
The suspect was searched and found in possession of narcotics as well as a concealed knife.
He has subsequently been charged with the following:
Carrying a concealed weapon 90(2) Criminal Code
Dangerous operation of a botor vehicle 249(1)(a)
Possession for the purpose of trafficking 5(2) CDSA
Possession of property obtained by crime 354(1)(a) CC
Resisting arrest 129(a)CC
Feb. 18
8:22 a.m - Police received a call that a 44-year-old male was threatening a female with a bat inside a residence on the 1500 block of 105 St. in North Battleford. Police attended the location and the male was gone on arrival. The male is known to police and charges are pending.
10:55 p.m. - An 18-year-old male from North Battleford turned himself in after fleeing from police in a stolen pickup truck. Police had initiated a traffic stop and the male subject failed to stop. Police did not pursue for safety concerns but later located the vehicle as it was involved in a collision. There were no injuries.
He has subsequently been charged with the following:
Operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police 249.1(1) CC
Driving while disqualified/prohibited 259(4) CC
Possession of property obtained by crime 354(1)(a) CC
Fail to comply with a probation order x4 733.1(1) CC
