As of 9:45 this morning, 35 cars on a westbound Canadian National (CN) train derailed near Raymore, Sask. No one was hurt and no dangerous materials were leaked.
“One of the cars was carrying dangerous goods – the alcohol, isopropanol – but the car is intact and there are no leaks,” said CN spokesman, Jim Feeny. “The cause is still under investigation.”
While it was believed at first that 33 cars derailed, they found two additional cars further back with wheels off the track. Since the derailment, cleanup has already begun and CN personnel are working to move the cars so that they can resume service. It is as yet unknown how long that will take, but two rural roads have been blocked in the meantime.
