Onion Lake is more than 4,200 kilometres from Atlantic Canada. In the past week, Tanya Jimmy has made the trip twice: once to Halifax to attend a conference, and once to Moncton to claim a $1 million prize from the Feb. 28 Lotto Max Maxmillions draw.

"I wasn't expecting to be back this way again so soon," says Tanya.

Tanya bought her lottery ticket in Halifax while at the conference. She's not a regular lottery player, but her husband urged her to buy one. He likes the idea of buying tickets when away from home.

Tanya was back in Saskatchewan when she Googled the winning numbers. What she saw was a match and her first thoughts were "OMG!" She quickly yelled for her husband.

In disbelief, he searched website after website checking lottery numbers. "I thought it might have been a trick," he recalls.

A quick call to Atlantic Lottery confirmed the couple needed to make the trip back to Atlantic Canada, this time to pick up a cool million. "It was definitely worth the trip," they say.

Tanya says that bills will be paid and she hopes to soon be driving her dream car. Beyond that, the couple says they're planning a surprise for their three sons and immediate family.
