MAIDSTONE — The Maidstone RCMP are reporting 58 occurrences between March 20 and 26.

Some of the most common calls received were related to traffic collisions, suspicious persons and theft (including break and enter).

Call breakdown: Sunday – 14; Monday – 13; Tuesday – 6; Wednesday – 8; Thursday – 5; Friday – 6; Saturday – 6.

Calls of interest:

March 20, it was reported in Lashburn that two vehicles were vandalized in an attempt to steal them. A short time later, at a rural location near Lashburn, an ATV was reported stolen and is currently still missing. These three crimes are believed to be linked and police are looking for any information the public may have. Police continue to search for a white SUV believed to be related to the crimes.

March 20, the Enhanced Policing Unit attended to a suspicious person complaint in the RM of Wilton attending different rural locations and handing out flyers. The person was found by police and found not to be doing anything criminal, but handing out information.

March 20, police took a report of a suspicious group of people who attended a rural location near Lashburn. It was reported that the person entered the yard, one individual exited the vehicle and spoke to the home owner regarding the purchase of a vehicle, then began to ask other questions regarding security of the residence. The people left without incident, but then went to a nearby yard. Police would like to remind people to be vigilant in the protection of property and assets. If a stranger comes to your yard or home without invitation and begins to ask questions without cause, direct them to leave and contact police immediately. Any details regarding the person, a licence plate or other information will be an asset to the police investigation.

March 21, the Enhanced Policing Unit and Maidstone RCMP members assisted North Battleford RCMP and Blaine Lake RCMP in the arrest of a man from Big Island Cree Territory who was in possession of a stolen truck. The truck was located in the ditch on Highway 684. The man was arrested without incident and remanded in custody.

March 22, a break and enter to a residence in Lashburn was reported. Some items had been taken and vandalism was done.

March 22, a stolen vehicle was recovered by Maidstone RCMP members on Highway 17 near Alcruve, Alta. The vehicle had been stolen from Lloydminster the day previous and abandoned.

March 24, a motor vehicle collision was reported near Marshall on Highway 16 between two cars. The driver of one of the vehicles, a male from Lloydminster, has been charged under the Traffic Safety Act.

March 25, a vehicle was reported to be abandoned at a rural location near Waseca. The vehicle had heavy damage and appeared to be partially stripped.

An increase in motor vehicle collisions has been reported with the fluctuating temperatures and animal activity.
