The annual Give the Gift of Life Fun Run and Walk will raise funds and awareness for organ donations in Canada.

The 5 km walk/run begins with registration, light breakfast and children's activity area at 10 a.m. The run begins at 11 a.m. after a Zumba fitness warm up with Rena Fauchon-Smokum. Registration takes place at Battlefords Flats. Registration fee is $35.

Signing up and signing his donor card will be Mayor Ian Hamilton.

In Saskatchewan there are 82 people on the waiting list for a new kidney. Individuals can help by registering to participle and raise pledges. The money raised will go to support programs and services for others in your area awaiting their own gift of life. Individuals are also urged to sign their donor cards and to speak to their families about their wishes to be organ donors.

In Canada only 14 of every million people agree to give the gift of life - one of the worst records in the developed world. On average 150 people die each year waiting for an organ to become available.
