The province wants hunters to help slow the spread of chronic wasting disease (CWD). To do so, it's asking them to test their animals before consuming them.

Battleford provided what turned out to be an optimistic update on the financial impact this year from COVID-19 at their meeting last week.

HUMBOLDT — When it comes to the effect COVID-19 has had on Humboldt’s finances, the city has pretty much broken even. At the request of the province, the city calculated how its revenues and expenses have been affected by the pandemic.

WAKAW — Highway 41 approximately five miles east of Wakaw is blocked both ways due to a collision involving four vehicles and a semi-truck on a construction site. Saskatchewan RCMP received a report of the collision at around 1 p.m. on Aug. 25.

There are no new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Aug. 25 and one case found to be an out-of-province resident has been removed from the Saskatchewan count. This brings the total to 1,601 reported cases.

LANIGAN — The Town of Lanigan will be receiving a new educational facility following an announcement from Horizon School Division and the provincial government.

There will always be street gangs but their numbers can be reduced. Saskatchewan is plagued with a violent gang problem but gang experts are optimistic there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

The Battleford Co-op Food Store has reopened as of this past weekend, following a deep cleaning after an employee tested positive for COVID-19 last week. The store closed last Tuesday evening following word of the positive COVID-19 test.

On Monday, August 24, 2020, around 9:00 p.m., officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Traffic Services Unit were working in the Wynyard area on Highway 16.
