MELFORT — The Melfort RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance to find the individuals responsible for damage to a portable highway light board through being struck by a vehicle. Between Aug. 20 and Aug.

EAST CENTRAL — Starting Aug. 24, masks will be required for staff, students and visitors at all Cumberland College locations amid the Covid-19 pandemic as physical distancing cannot be guaranteed in all spaces.

An 18-year-old Grandmother’s Bay man appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on firearms charges. Pacey McKenzie, 18, is charged with pointing a firearm, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and careless use of a firearm.

There are three new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Aug. 24 and one case deemed to be an out-of-province resident has been removed from the Saskatchewan count. This brings the total to 1,602 reported cases.

A couple charged in connection to numerous break ins and thefts across Central Saskatchewan had more court appearances. Cody Kemick, 37, had an appearance scheduled on Aug. 20 for plea and election but the matter was adjourned to Aug. 27.

RED EARTH CREE NATION — A 21-year-old man has been charged with second degree murder in connection with a stabbing at the Red Earth Cree Nation.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is notifying the public that an individual who tested COVID-19 positive visited the following businesses when the individual was likely infectious: · Monday, August 17 – Shoppers Drug Mart from 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.

In the Conservative leadership race, Erin O’Toole was decidedly a second choice of voters in Battlefords-Lloydminster.

An Onion Lake Cree Nation woman charged with killing a 26-year-old man was scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court but the matter was adjourned again. Shari Heathen, 27, had an appearance scheduled on Aug. 20 to speak to the matter.
