In an interview with the News-Optimist this week, Battlefords MLA Herb Cox looked back on what he feels was a productive fall session of the legislature. “From my view we had a very busy session,” said Cox.

TISDALE — Renovations on the Tisdale RECplex are complete. The renovations saw repairs on the building’s roof which had cracks causing leaks.

Humboldt council has passed a budget that focuses on road, water and sewer projects, as well as increases the tax levy by two per cent. The budget was approved at a special meeting Dec. 20.

Opposition leader Ryan Meili says it was a strong fall session for the Saskatchewan NDP in the legislature. “We were really happy with the way things went,” said Meili of the NDP’s performance in a conference call with reporters Monday afternoon.

As the town grows and gets more calls, most Battleford fire department staff are getting a raise. The fire department consists of 16 compensated volunteers, along with some staff, including a fire chief.
