NIPAWIN — The RCMP held an information session for Nipawin residents interested in creating a Citizens on Patrol (COPPS) group. The information session on Oct. 24 was organized by the local RCMP.

A chainsaw and tool chest were among the $3,500 worth of items stolen from a home and quonset in the RM of Ponass Lake. The crime occured Oct. 16 at 4:30 pm, according to the Greenwater RCMP.

Humboldt’s mayor is happy to see the provincial government keep civic elections in the fall of 2020 after they mused about holding them a year later. Instead, the province will hold the provincial election on Oct.

An ongoing conflict between possible election dates for provincial and municipal elections in 2020 has been resolved. The province has announced the election dates will now be set two weeks apart. The provincial election will be held Oct. 26, 2020.

The NationsWest Field House will be closed the public for the period Oct. 29 to Nov. 13, as it has been booked for what the City of North Battleford terms a “private function.” The function happens to be revival meetings.

Paciwin is the Cree name of Senator John B. Tootoosis from Poundmaker First Nation. He was a crusader for Indigenous rights since the turn of the century. He travelled many parts of the world advocating for his people.

ZENON PARK — École Notre-Dame-Des-Vertus in Zenon Park is currently searching for bids for roof renovations. “You’ve got kids going in there so you want a safe and healthy environment,” said Benoit LeBlanc, the school’s principal.

Bee-J’s Office Plus has donated $10,000 to the Saskatchewan Hospital New Beginnings fundraising campaign. The money will be put towards purchasing the necessary medical equipment and furnishing for the new hospital.

TISDALE — Tisdale RCMP caught one impaired driver as part of SGI's Traffic Safety Initiatives’ High Visibility Enforcement check stops. “We did get an impaired driver out of operation,” said Cpl. Mike Benjamin.
