Each year, the amount of weight that trucks can haul increases during the winter months. The winter weight period typically begins November 16 however, the 2018 start date is being delayed due to weather and road structure conditions.

Wakaw is part of a cluster of communities near Saskatoon where whooping cough has been detected. There have been 25 cases of whooping cough, or pertussis, all centred around Rosthern.

Battleford RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Cheyenne Bouvier, 21, who has been reported missing. She was last seen at Battlefords Union Hospital in North Battleford in the late afternoon of Friday, Nov. 9.

Unity RCMP has received numerous reports of vehicles being entered and items stolen, as well as garages being entered with items being taken recently. Two vehicles were reported to have been stolen and both have since been recovered.

Passing lanes on Highway 4 between North Battleford and Cochin are now open. A release issued Wednesday stated four passing lanes as well as intersection improvements have been opened to traffic.

NORTHEAST — SaskCanola has discovered 37 canola fields in Saskatchewan were infected with clubroot. “We’re finding it more and more,” said Kim Stonehouse, crops extension specialist with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture in Tisdale.

CARROT RIVER — A Carrot River Fire and Rescue firefighter is recovering after an injury at a fire. At 3:30 pm on Nov. 11, 14 firefighters were called out to a structure fire in the RM of Moose Range.
