Children playing with matches were responsible for a fire on the 1600 block of 106th Street, according to the North Battleford Fire Department. Two pumpers, eight personnel and one chief officer arrived on the scene.

Pedestrian dies in crash
Shaun Pete, 39, of the Richard area died Monday after an SUV hit a pedestrian on Highway 40. Blaine Lake RCMP were called to the scene 30 kilometres east of Hafford at about 11:50 p.m. Pete was pronounced dead at the scene.
