There’s nothing like a comeback win on the road to instill confidence in a young football team.

It still remains to be seen where exactly the Battlefords Stars will fit in the grand scheme things as the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League season gets underway this weekend.

After a stellar rookie campaign with the Battlefords North Stars, goaltender Joel Grzybowski is moving up to the Western Hockey League.

Although only two games took place on Sunday in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, both contests saw several twists and turns to wrap up the opening weekend of the 2017-18 season in style.

At this point, the numbers that the Battlefords North Stars are tallying up against the Kindersley Klippers could be filed in the science fiction genre.

Brayden Camrud played the hero for the Humboldt Broncos scoring the overtime winner as the Broncos won their Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season, and home opener 3-2 over the Notre Dame Hounds.

Friday’s clash between the Battlefords North Stars and Kindersley Klippers marked the first time in over a year that the Klippers had a legit opportunity to finally solve their archrivals. In the end, however, Levi Kleiboer had other ideas.

The results were not there for the Humboldt Broncos in the pre-season as they managed just a 1-2-1 record, but the pre-season is about more than wins and losses.
