There are always irritants in life. Some may come in the form of flying insects such as a mosquito whining in your ear at bedtime, while others may be larger and involve government policies, potholes or perhaps the absence of a clean spoon.

I phoned Ed today when we hit 44 C. It has been the hottest day I have ever encountered in my long life. It is to hit 45 C tomorrow. Every day we have been having in our heat wave seems longer than the next.

Dear Editor Recently a booklet titled “Saskatchewan’s Team in Ottawa” arrived in my mailbox. In it, Conservative MP Rosemarie Falk states seniors have never been a priority for the Trudeau government but she gives no specifics.

It’s a rare event when the stars align in the cosmos of Ottawa to create the perfect opportunity for politicians to save taxpayers some money. That phenomenon is happening now. Ottawa is facing a black hole of debt.

In 1944 the classic song, “Baby It’s Cold Outside” was a hit. I was just one year old when that was released but now, years later, I am tempted to try to re-write the piece.

Container gardening is a great art and can even make gardening easier. Anywhere in the landscape containers can have a place. We all cherish beauty in the landscape but convenience is also important.

Most people like to look forward to some precious time with a loved one, where no one, or nothing, interrupts that valuable one-on-one communication.

For the last 50 years, Anglicans have observed National Indigenous Day of Prayer (NIDP) on June 21. Anglican congregations will mark this celebration on June 20, since the official day falls on a Monday.
