There is nothing more heart-wrenching, devastating and sickening than reading about someone who died at the words -not hands- of someone else. Bullying.

I fear I might open the hornets' nest with this week's column. But after the events of last month I no longer have much choice.

Dear Editor Most of the "Safety Tips" printed in the Oct. 3 News-Optimist are things I have always done. But there is one that disturbs me: "When going out alone, make sure to tell friends or family." I live alone, as do many people.

A weekly highlight for us is dinner with our sons and their families. Be it a celebratory turkey dinner or a simple bowl of homemade soup and fresh baked bread, the thrill is in being together.

Dear Editor I'm not surprised that the propagandists of the Frasier Institute should find fault with the idea that public pension plans are more generous than most private pension plans, but I was surprised to note, in the Oct.

The cake was cut, the self-congratulatory Facebook posts went out along with the news releases. Sept. 26 was a big day for Saskatchewan, for that was the day it was announced we have reached 1.1 million people.

Ed, my neighbour next door, has noted the daily bike rides my wife, and I take around town. Last night, I was getting set for a bike ride by myself after supper. My weight is up and extra bike rides are necessary for me to slim down.

Sometimes when you rattle a cage, you end up getting something thrown at you.

The unfortunate hazing incident in Lanigan has inspired much talk and debate these past couple of weeks or so. And what it seems to boil down to is a big, fat rock and a hard place. For the parents, and the "freshies.
