It's amazing how a relatively short plane ride can take you a world away from home.

I am writing to show support for the Heibert family after their home sustained serious damage from the storm. The number of people who turned out to help clean up shows the strength of a community and friends.

The month opens with the moon just about at full phase, which occurs July 3. The moon is also at perigee July 1, making this a rather large full moon.

This past Saturday I was part of a mob that invaded a local store - no violence though, just lots of smiles and busy staff.

Dear Editor Hold on Larry Doke, your refutation (Regional Optimist June 15) of Bob Zurowski's columns in the News-Optimist and Regional Optimist in which you claim he is " misleading and inaccurate" is itself misleading and inaccurate.

You probably all realize that English people have to be careful about some of the expressions we use in Canada. It can sometimes be very embarrassing, as the expressions can mean something far different from the intended message.

In the cycle of endings and beginnings this time of year always seems the busiest.
