Man killed when vehicle collides with moose near Smeaton

The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, was transported to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

SMEATON — A Prince Albert man is dead after the vehicle he was riding in collided with a moose.

On July 14 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Nipawin RCMP received a report of a serious wildlife-related collision on Highway 55, approximately two kilometres west of Smeaton.

Officers responded along with local fire and EMS. A passenger in the vehicle was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 50-year-old male from Prince Albert. His family has been notified.

The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, was transported to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

A second adult male passenger reported no physical injuries to police.

Investigation determined the vehicle struck a moose.

Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate.
