Delta Co-op 'Fuel Good Day' benefits community fire departments

A Co-op initiative that has occurred since 2017, benefitted community fire departments through10 cents per litre at the pumps and barbecue proceeds.

UNITY — An annual initiative to benefit a community organization was held Sept. 20 at Delta Co-op fuelling stations in Luseland, Macklin, Unity and Wilkie.

Fuel Good Day has been a co-op initiative since it launched in 2017. For the 2022 event, Delta Co-op Communications and Marketing Manger Julie Spence says, “Ten cents from every litre purchased at the pumps will be donated.”

In addition to the cents per litre donated, the team at Delta Co-op hosted a barbecue with a Plinko game for fun. Funds raised from the barbecue will also go towards the community fire departments.

Mother Nature didn’t deliver very accommodating weather for the activity, but each community said the support is what they are accustomed to when an event is benefitting a community cause. Fire department volunteers and team members from Delta Co-op braved the elements and warmed up the experience with hot food and warm smiles.

All community fire departments in these locations said there were providing members and a truck to help promote and volunteer at the event. All departments said funds they receive from the program would be used towards training, tools and equipment.

Each year, Delta Co-op chooses a donation recipient of their Fuel Good Day event. “We aim to have it donated to an organization that benefits the entire Delta district and community,” the co-op states.
