The Melfort Mustangs enjoyed a terrific pre-season as they wrapped up their four-game schedule 3-1. Heading into the pre-season, Trevor Blevins , the Mustangs’ head coach, was looking for his players to show their compete levels.

A truck and trailer stolen from Nipawin was found in Tisdale with stolen property connecting the alleged culprits to other thefts. The Tisdale RCMP responded to a complaint at 5:15 a.m.

The union that represents liquor store employees is calling for Melfort council to take a stand against the privatization of the city’s public liquor store.

After finishing major upgrades to their park, the Melfort Rotary Club celebrated with Filipino food, children’s games, karaoke and disc golf. The club’s Party in the Park was held Sept. 10.

The Northeast’s two largest communities are taking stock of assets like water and sewer mains, roads, and heavy equipment and building a plan to maintain or replace them.

The Town of Porcupine Plain has issued a fire ban, effect Sept. 8. No one in town is to light any open fires, nor set off fireworks. The order will remain in effect until further notice.

The Nipawin Hawks wasted little time jumping in to their pre-season schedule as they locked horns with the Flin Flon Bombers for a pair of weekend matchups. The Hawks kicked off the week on Sept. 2 as they welcomed the Flin Flon Bombers to the Cage.

The birds are back in their cage, as the Nipawin Hawks welcomed players back to the Cage with their training camp. The two-day camp featured approximately 60 players ranging in age from 1997-born players through to 2002-born players.
