An aunt-niece team read out their first children’s book to the patrons of the Melfort Library. Angela Joelle grew up around Melfort and Star City, but now works as a visual artist in Vancouver. Her niece Brynna Beaupre is from Regina.

Locals win Premier’s Walleye Cup
Two local fishers won one of the flagship fishing tournaments in this province. Spencer Kozun of Nipawin and Wade Maynard of Carrot River won the Premier’s Walleye Cup on Tobin Lake with a total of 42.30 pounds of walleye.

Purse stolen from truck during Kelvington Fair
A purse was stolen after a truck was broken into during the Kelvington Fair. The vehicle, parked outside the horse corrals, was broken into Aug. 5 at around 9 p.m. The stolen purse was black and had silver horseshoe-shaped buckles.
