REGINA — The Hotel Saskatchewan is currently dealing with flooding.
Early Monday morning, staff caught wind of flooding in the basement.
“At that time, we were assessing the situation. And it resulted in us needing to turn off our power and our water later in the morning, said The Hotel Saskatchewan's director of marketing and sales, Ashley Pelechytik.
With no power and water, roughly 100 guests staying at the hotel were relocated to the Delta Hotel, said Pelechytik. Other guests also chose alternative options if they chose to.
She credited her team for reacting quickly and addressing an issue that hadn’t happened at the hotel prior.
Pelechytik said the hotel managed to restore power on Monday, and guests were welcome back Tuesday morning after The Hotel Saskatchewan started using its alternative water source.
As for the cause of the flooding, Pelechytik said that it is currently under investigation. It’s unclear whether the rain over the weekend in Regina played a factor in the flooding.
From her knowledge, no other businesses in the area are dealing with flooding.
Since the flooding occurred in the basement, no damage was caused to the hotel.
The hotel mentioned looking into compensating guests, and each would be on a case-by-case basis.
