REGINA — The Regina General Hospital courtyard has been transformed with new additions to the space.
These include added greenery, enhanced lighting and security, five mural artworks created by local artists, and more. The new space was showcased on Tuesday.
One of those artists is Harley Sinclair, who created the main mural piece in the courtyard.

Sinclair said the piece “represents a healing journey for patients, families and care staff.”
He also created another small piece, “The Spirit Stands Strong.”

Sinclair said this piece is about strength and remaining strong through one's healing journey.
The project started around a year ago and was fully funded by the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, with a $50,000 contribution.
“It was an easy decision for us to support them,” said Hospitals of Regina Foundation president and CEO Dino Sophocleous.
Sophocleous said their social service group looks at anyone to support the mental health and well-being of people, mentioning this project also invites folks to stay in hospitals.
Sheila Anderson, Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) vice-president of Integrated Regina Health, said, “We want this courtyard to be a place where people feel safe, seen and supported. A place where, after a difficult moment, anyone can step outside and feel the weight lift just a little.”
Anderson also said that there could be more additions to the courtyard in the future.
