REGINA — The City of Regina is preparing to move the oskana kâ-asastêki sculpture with upcoming construction in the area.
The sculpture is located at the south end of Scarth Street near the 12th Avenue entrance.
With the city preparing for the Scarth Street Mall Revitalization project come 2027, Regina will move the oskana kâ-asastêki sculpture to prevent any damage.
The city also plans to do restoration work on the sculpture to help preserve it for years.
“[Regina] is committed to the careful removal, secure storage and future reinstallation of the sculpture, they said in a media release.”
The city said updates on the process will be shared with residents throughout the project.
As for the sculpture's location, this will be considered in consultation with the Civic Arts and Culture Sector Reference Group (SRG).
Construction on Scarth Street is anticipated to begin in early 2027.
