SASKATOON -  Saskatoon police say five people have been arrested following a report of a kidnapping Thursday.

On July 24, police received a report of an ongoing kidnapping. Police say a man told them he had been contacted by his son, who informed him he’d been kidnapped by multiple people and was being held against his will in a vehicle. The suspects were demanding a large sum of money for the release of the victim.

The police were able to locate the vehicle in the 900 block of Weldon Avenue, where officers observed two people, one being the victim, exit the vehicle and walk towards a residence.

Police say they intervened to secure the safety of the victim and arrest the suspect he was with. Four additional suspects were arrested from within the vehicle.

As a result, four men, age 21, 24, 29, and 38, and a 29-year-old woman have been charged with kidnapping with intent to hold for ransom.
