From Call to Rescue: Searchers season two begins filming in Saskatchewan

Half-hour documentary airs on APTN.

SASKATOON — Angel Entertainment has announced that principal photography has begun on Season Two of Searchers, a half-hour documentary series airing on APTN.

Filming is currently underway in Saskatchewan locations, including Pike Lake, Nisbet Forest, Poplar Bluffs and St. Volodymyr. The series documents the work of Indigenous communities by sharing stories of rescue missions, bringing viewers into the journey from the first emergency call to the outcome. Through cinematic re-creations and firsthand interviews with searchers, families and survivors, Searchers offers an immersive look at each rescue.

“Creative Saskatchewan is proud to support Searchers with a commitment of $526,314 through our Feature Film and Television Production Grant,” said Erin Dean, CEO of Creative Saskatchewan.

“This investment is projected to generate $1.7 million in economic impact and create nearly 200 jobs, delivering a return of $3.32 for every dollar spent. It’s a testament to the strength and value of Saskatchewan’s screen-based industries.”

“We’re thrilled to be back filming Season Two of Searchers,” said Wally Start, president and executive producer at Angel Entertainment.

“This series shines a light on the extraordinary efforts of Indigenous communities who dedicate themselves to search and rescue. Their stories deserve to be seen and heard.”

Season two of Searchers is expected to premiere on APTN in 2026.
