Harold Lorne Lincoln (1919 -2013) of Wawota Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at the Deer View Lodge on Friday, January 18, 2013. He is survived by his sisters Ilene Redfern of Calgary, Alberta and Edith Johnston of Brandon Manitoba, his daughters Helene, Althea and Lisa, son-in-law Roger Boutin and his son Ty Boutin, Harold's son D'Arcy, daughter-in-law Brenda Gregoire and his grandchildren Jessica, Ryan and Benjamin. Harold was predeceased by his wife Joyce, daughter Michelle, parents and sister Nellie.

At 18 Harold completed the agricultural diploma program at the University of Saskatchewan, in Saskatoon. In 1939, like so many of the Wawota area, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a member of the South Saskatchewan Regiment mustering in Weyburn. Harold served in England and in Italy as a D-day dodger with the 5th Division Headquarters Battalion. At the completion of the war Harold returned home and took over the family farm. In 1949 Harold married Joyce Delarue. Together for 56 years, they built the farm business and raised 4 children. Harold's strong work ethic and old world sense of responsibility melded with a belief in community service led to his volunteering to be the founding president of the Wawota and District Lions Club.

Harold was a very thoughtful man and had a keen interest in politics and history. He had a love for fun, a great sense of humour and uncanny ability in the art of storytelling. Harold's good memory made him the family expert on the history of the area and its people and events. During his retirement years, he enjoyed meeting with his friends at the coffee shop when he wasn't sitting in his chair in the sun porch reading, with his cat Jasper nearby. With failing health Harold spent his final days in the Wawota Deer View Lodge, a refuge of quiet comfort, care and peace. Harold will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
