GARRECK: Louise Julia Garreck, beloved wife of the late John Garreck, formerly of Swan River, Manitoba and Wawota, Saskatchewan, passed away at Maryfield, Saskatchewan on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the age of 88 years.

Funeral service from Wawota United Church, Wawota, Saskatchewan on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Sally Bullas officiating. The interment will take place in Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River, Manitoba on Friday, January 11 at 2:00 p.m.

Louise Julia (Trumbley) Garreck was born December 7, 1924 on a farm near Demaine, SK. to Elizabeth Anne (Levine) and Malcolm Norman Trumbley. She was raised near Demaine, attended Hill and Hollow School before moving to the Whitebeech, SK. area in the 1930's. Louise married John Garreck on October 12, 1940 and together they raised six children. Louise and John farmed in the Whitebeech area for many years and also ran a general store in Birch River for a few years in the 1960s. Louise enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting and music. In 2005, she moved to Wawota and in 2010 took up residence at Sunrise Villa in Maryfield. Louise is survived by her children: Dan (Carmen), Torie (Warren), John (Bev), Dennis (Willadell), and Shirley (Joe) and daughter-in-law Hazel. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, a brother Charlie (Darlene) and two sisters Barb and Cathy. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1990, son Dave in 2011 as well as seven brothers and five sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, in memory of Louise.

The immediate family of Louise Garreck would like to thank family and friends for the numerous calls, visits, cards, flowers, donations, food brought to the house and especially, "thank you" to those that attended the funeral in Maryfield and the burial in Swan River. Your expressions of sympathy, support, care and concern will not be forgotten.

We would like express our gratitude and thanks to Nicki, Mary, Brian Swallow, the RCMP and the rest of the medical team in Maryfield for their quick response, care and compassion in dealing with Mom' sudden passing. We are forever grateful. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all that contributed to the funeral in Wawota on January 10: Rev. Sally Bullas, Jim Stinson and Carscadden's Funeral Chapel, Valerie at Westwind Florist, Judy Skiba, the Choir, Alice Peters, the Legion members and the Mountney Ladies. As well, we extend our thanks to those that assisted with the burial and lunch in Swan River: Dianne Sims, Rev. James Cotten and the staff of the Legion Club Room.
