Numerous municipalities held elections

Election day on Oct. 26 was a busy one for many urban municipalities in southeast Saskatchewan, as residents went to the polls to elect a mayor and councillors for the next four years.

Election day on Oct. 26 was a busy one for many urban municipalities in southeast Saskatchewan, as residents went to the polls to elect a mayor and councillors for the next four years.

In Alameda, Wade Duncan was elected as mayor, defeating incumbent Mike Warner. There was also an election for one councillor seat, as a second call for nominations was needed, and two candidates filed papers. Dwayne Henderson defeated Murray Henderson (no relation) to become a councillor.

The five candidates who filed their nomination papers for councillor before the nomination deadline on Sept. 21 were acclaimed.
In Alida, Tim Cowan, Justin McNish, Marvin Ferriss and Dean Ramsey were elected as councillors. Sheri-Lee Patton was the other candidate.

Keith Erick defeated Heidi Stouffer to become the mayor of Arcola. The councillors will be Colin Brownridge, Elaine Hislop, Matt Wheeler, Marius Wotta, Cindy Kolenz and Scott Tessier. Delaine Kendall and Barbie Wall were the other candidates.

Incumbent Michael Wolf defeated Eric Hoefer to remain the mayor of Carievale. Riley Carpenter, Melinda Carpenter, Lianne Albrecht-Mallo and Coby Murray will be the councillors. George Kerr was defeated.

The councillors in Carlyle will be Devin Faber, John Brownlee, Darcy Moore, Jennifer Sedor, Brian Romaniuk and Dean Hoffman. The defeated candidates were Stephen Boyko, Hugh Hislop and Martin Tourand. An election for mayor wasn’t needed.

There were 10 candidates for councillor in Carnduff. Joel Purves, Kris Carley, Kevin Lesy, Chris Boardman, Greg Wall and Roy Annetts were elected. The other candidates were Verdeen Matthewson, Deborah Tollifson, Joan Barber and Harvey Bergen.

Carnduff didn’t need an election for mayor due to acclamation.

Victor Huish was elected to another term as mayor of Gainsborough, as he defeated Kayla Inglis. An election wasn’t needed for councillor.

In Kisbey, Jim Johnston, Elisa Jackson, John Voutour and Deb Wallace were elected to be councillors. Bob Curtis was the other candidate. There wasn’t a mayoral election in that village.

Don Dionne was elected as the new mayor of Manor. Vickie Akins and Lucille Dunn were the other candidates. There wasn’t an election for councillor.

There was a councillor race in Oxbow, where Darrell Dunnigan, Richard Lamontagne, Cory Mercer, Wendel Nordin, Douglas Pierce and Nicholas Shier were elected. Mark Barnes and Rosemary Ching were defeated.

Roche Percee had elections for both mayor and councillor. Dwain Dzuba defeated Clayton Stenhouse to become the village’s new mayor. Dennis Fichter and Charlotte Wrigley were elected as councillors, while Reg Jahn and Wes Neff were defeated.

Incumbent Bill Knous defeated Tom Sangster to remain the mayor in Stoughton. The six councillors in that town were elected via acclamation.

The mayor and councillors in Glen Ewen, Kenosee Lake and Redvers were elected via acclamation.
