ESTEVAN, WEYBURN — Envision Counselling and Support Centre Inc. will be launching a new parenting program geared towards parents and caregivers who might be struggling with some dynamics within their homes. Connected Families will run every Monday in Estevan, and every Tuesday in Weyburn from Feb. 26 through the end of 2024, both starting at 6 p.m.
"Have you ever wished you could help your child willingly co-operate without the use of bribes, threats, punishment or even perhaps yelling?" says Raven Daer, communications specialist with Envision Counselling and Support Centre Inc. "Do you want to feel more connected and confident as a parent? Then this new parenting program might be the right fit for you."
Pre-registration is required for these upcoming parenting programs and will open on Feb. 1. Space is limited, so those interested are asked to register.
The focus of this group is confidence and connection. It's geared towards individuals who feel like they may require some additional support in the areas of connecting and communicating with their children.
"Parenting is no easy job, so this program will allow folks to share stories and learn strategies that may ease some stress within the home as children grow and evolve through the different stages," Envision said in a press release.
"We have found that there are limited opportunities for free educational programming within the community that is outside of typical business hours," Daer mentions. "We are hopeful that by offering this parenting program in the evenings, it will support those who may otherwise be unable to access our services. We are also hopeful that by having these conversations, we can normalize the reality that parenting isn't easy, but folks shouldn't feel the need to struggle on their own."
