Impaired driving charge laid after rollover by elevator

A single vehicle rollover occurred not far from Richardson Pioneer inland terminal west of Estevan on Saturday.

ESTEVAN RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover on Saturday.

ESTEVAN — The Estevan RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle rollover just off of Highway 39, near the Richardson Pioneer inland terminal west of Estevan, at 8:45 p.m. on April 6.

The RCMP, along with the Estevan Fire Rescue Service (EFRS), Estevan Police Service and Estevan EMS, all responded to the incident.

According to an email from the RCMP, there were four occupants in the vehicle. None reported injuries to police, and Estevan Fire Chief Rick Davies said there wasn't an entrapment.

As a result of investigation, the driver, a 25-year-old man from Estevan was charged with one count of impaired operation of a conveyance, and one count of operation of a conveyance while exceeding .08. Both charges are under Criminal Code.

He is scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on May 13.

Also last week, the EFRS crews responded to a commercial fire alarm occurring at a building located on the east side of the city. The call came in on April 4 at about 11:20 a.m. Firefighters responded and quickly determined there was no emergency, and the alarm went off due to a system issue.

On April 7 just after midnight, the EFRS was alerted to another commercial fire alarm occurring in a building in central Estevan. The duty officer responded, investigated, determined there was no emergency and assisted with resetting the system.
