Alida Rink getting makeover

Welcome to Alida

Home visiting Jean Ball for a few days, and attending the funeral of their Dad Garnet Ball on Sept. 10, were Garrett and Natasha Ball of Airdrie, Alta., Aaron Ball of Regina, Kenny Ball of Regina, granddaughter Hunter Burley and her friend.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the Mailhiot family on the death of their uncle Victor Mailhiot, late of Merritt, B.C., who passed away July 13, 2020. The family and friends gathered at the Cantal Cemetery on Sept. 11 for the internment of his ashes and then had a luncheon at the 361 Café.

Did you know it was Grandparents’ Day on Sept. 12? I’ve never really realized that there was a special day set aside for grandparents. I’m one person who just figures that it is always Grandparents’ Day when you are blessed to have your grandchildren living nearby. They are too precious to forget and grow up way too fast. Enjoy them all while you can.

I’d like to send congratulations to granddaughter Lacie Nilsen and her Physio Girls team on their success in completing the relay race at the Queen City Marathon in Regina held Sept. 12. Way to go Girls.

The Alida Rink is now in the midst of a makeover on the curling ice surface – getting ready for the Haunted House and of course for the ghouls, ghosts, spooks and witches, etc., to soon make their appearance and take up residence. If interested in helping out, please give Shelly a call at 306-485-7023, she’d love to hear from you. They’re always in need of help with the construction and the operating of this event. There may be some COVID restriction that will apply – just keep eyes and ears open. In the meantime, do make note of the dates and times to come. We’d love to see you there. It will be a spook-tacular event.

Please remember folks to keep me posted whenever you have news on any happenings that are going on in and around Alida as well as within your own family circle. Simply contact me any time, either call 306-443-2496, text 306-485-8561 or e-mail g.cowan@sasktel.net. I will be sure to see that it gets into my column. I do appreciate all your input as it does help to make things interesting.
