The community fundraiser for the Kincaid Fire Department was a huge success on Saturday, October 14. The event included a supper, live and silent auctions, and a cabaret and raised over $111,000.
All of the proceeds were going to cover the purchase of the new fire truck. Over 230 items were donated to the live and silent auctions. The supper, midnight lunch, and auctioneering were also donated to the event.
Back in August, the Kincaid Fire Department concluded that the fire truck could no longer be used and began to search for a newer truck very quickly. The dry summer and grassfires meant that Kincaid’s Fire Department couldn’t remain for long without a reliable truck.
At the start of September, a group of Kincaid’s volunteer firefighters travelled to Potosi, Texas, to purchase a newer fire truck for the community. The 2001 Freightliner fire truck cost $117,000. Within hours of arriving in its new home, the new truck was put to the test at a large bale fire close to Aneroid.
The community then rallied together to fundraise to pay for the truck. With funds raised from the auction and cabaret as well as previous donations from 2017, a total of $125,700 was raised to cover the costs of this newer truck.
The Kincaid Rural Fire Department reports that the truck has now been paid in full. The Fire Department extends its deepest gratitude to the community for organizing and supporting the fundraisers through donations and purchases.
