SIR donation

Jody Feicht from the Southern Independent Riders presented a donation to Darlene Wasyluk, manager of the Salvation Army, from the SIR’s 18th annual Toyker Run held on August 26.
The Southern Independent Riders’ Toyker Run took 58 riders on a route through Gravelbourg, Lafleche, Limerick and Assiniboia ending at Congress to raise funds for the Salvation Army.
Participants were asked to bring an unwrapped toy to donate as they picked up their cards for the run, and additional cash donations were collected during registration. There was $919.75 raised for local Salvation Army from the run, donations and at the barbecue that followed at the clubhouse along with a large collection of toys.
The ride started at the Centre Park in Assiniboia and continued to the Rollin’ Rock in Gravelbourg. It passed through Lafleche then to Limerick, and on to stop at the 121 Steakhouse in Assiniboia before concluding at the SIR clubhouse in Congress. There, the riders relaxed with food and beverages, while the members compiled the run winners and handed out raffle prizes.
Winning hands for the poker run were announced. First place went to Ryvan Vietch who collected $283.75 for a total of 50. The second place total of 48 was held by Mike Robinson and Lawrence Ward who decided to split the $170.25 cash prize. Curtis Englesman held the low hand at 22 which won him $113.50. The Southern Independent Riders have 55 members.
The Salvation Army plans to join up again with the Southern Independent Riders next season to collect toys and donations. The Salvation Army continues to collect donations for Christmas hampers until December.
