Town of Carlyle announces new parks, recreation and culture director

Shane Marsh joins Town of Carlyle as Director of Parks, recreation and culture.

CARLYLE - With the assistance of HMC Management Inc., Mayor Jennifer Sedor and the council of the Town of Carlyle have announced the hiring of Shane Marsh as their new director of parks, recreation and culture, effective Oct. 1.

Marsh has a bachelor of arts degree in recreation leadership and has over nine years of recreation leadership experience, having been employed as the recreation director for the towns of Kerrobert and Carnduff, and most recently, as the recreation manager for the regional district of Okanagan Similkameen in Keremeos, B.C. 

Marsh also has private sector experience, having worked as the general manager for the Carnduff Co-op Ltd.

He brings a strong recreation facility operations background into this newly created positon and looks forward to directing the transitioning process of the town, assuming primary responsibility and day to day operations of some of its recreation facilities – such as the arena, pool and Memorial Hall – from the various boards and committees. 

Also under Mr. Marsh’s supervision, will be the cemetery, Carlyle community playground, Carlyle spray park and town-owned open and green spaces

Sedor and council ask the residents and staff of the town to join them in welcoming Marsh to Carlyle.
