Centennial contest a memorable opportunity for creative types

Since 2013 is the 100th anniversary of the City of Weyburn and the Weyburn Collegiate/ Comprehensive School, the Weyburn Centennial Committee has set in motion a number of events to mark the occasion.

The main event will be held on the long weekend of August 2 to 5, 2013.

As part of the celebration, the committee would like to sponsor a contest for a slogan, a piece of poetry and a song. The contest is open to everyone and each of the three winning will earn a $100 prize.

Entries are due by February 17, 2012 and can be mailed to the Weyburn Centennial Committee at 157 Third Street Northeast, Weyburn S4H 0W3, dropped off at City Hall or e-mailed to 100@weyburn.ca.

This is an opportunity for budding writers, poets and songwriters to have their original work as part of this memorable occasion. Rights for the winning entries will become the property of the Weyburn Centennial Committee.
