It`s become a popular attraction for families in the southeast region the last few years.

Corn Cob Junction is operated by the Estevan Bible Camp every fall. Located northeast of Estevan, it`s a place where people can come and enjoy outdoor activities on weekends in September and October.

James Milton, who is the chairperson for the committee that runs Corn Cob Junction, said this is the fourth year it has been offered in the southeast.

The two biggest attractions are the climbing wall, which can be found at events around the community in the spring and summer months, and their annual corn maze. Milton believes the maze is in great shape this year.

“It`s nice and tall. It`s probably seven to eight feet tall in most areas, and fairly thick,” said Milton.

It should take about 10-15 minutes for people to navigate their way through the maze.

But people can also look forward to hay rides, a sand box, bouncy castles and outdoor games for children.

Sept. 21 and 22 marked the opening weekend for Corn Cob Junction. It closed early on Sept. 21 due to rain, but it was open Sept. 22 for what was a beautiful fall day in southeast Saskatchewan.

“About 80 or 90 people came out, which is really good for our first day,” said Milton.

In previous years, they have had a similar number of people on Sundays when the weather has co-operated, but when they have had really good weather on Saturdays, they would get around 300-400 people at the site.

The remaining dates for Corn Cob Junction include Sept. 28 and 29, and Oct. 5, 6 and 12.

Milton views Corn Cob Junction as a great way to raise funds and to create awareness for the Bible Camp.

“It`s a great way that we can give back to the community that`s helped support us, having this event for families, and it`s something different that you can do in the fall with your kids, and it`s just a great opportunity for us to spread the word about what Estevan Bible Camp is doing in the community.”

Corn Cob Junction is 10 kilometres north of Estevan and four kilometres east. Admission is $10 per person, but children three and under get in for free.
