The Saskatchewan Good Sam club is holding their annual provincial Samboree at the Weyburn Exhibition grounds.
"We get together, we sing, we drink coffee, we eat a lot of food, we just have a good time," said Gerry Murray, who along with his wife Erna, preside over the Weyburn Crocus City Sams Club.
Murray expects that nearly 240 camper trailers and motorhomes will show up for the five-day event.
The group, which started rolling in on Tuesday, June 5, will call Weyburn home until the Samboree's end on Sunday, June 10.
Good Sam Club chapters are made up of motorhome and trailer enthusiasts that plan, travel, and camp together throughout the year.
The Saskatchewan Good Sam Club has 16 member chapters from across the province with the Weyburn Crocus City Sam Club having 17 camping units.
The Good Sam chapters choose to travel and camp together for a number of reasons, including the companionship of travelling with friends, the safety of having other motorists and friends along on a journey, and the many hands that can be called upon to help organize and run events.
Attendees to this year's Samboree will be treated to a number of events, including concerts by Brad Johner, the STARS choir, and the Variations.
The clubs will also have the opportunity to tour the city's attractions, such as enjoying Weyburn's parks during morning walks, touring the Inland Terminal, the Museum, the T.C. Douglas centre, and Heritage Village.
The Samboree also has a number of events for participants, including a golf tournament, bingo games, cribbage games, ladder golf and 50/50 draws.
The event also features meals, workshops, as well as craft and vendor sales.
Each chapter of the Good Sam club pitches in to make the event a success, with each taking on the responsibility for running parts of the event.
The Good Sam club does more than just get together and have a good time though. The group also donates proceeds from camping events to regional parks, helping upgrade the camping experience for all campers.
