The Soo Line Museum staff and board are hoping you'll dig deep into your pockets so they can continue to dig deep into Weyburn's history.

The second annual Soo Line Museum Gala Dinner will be held at the Weyburn Legion Hall on Saturday, Oct. 14.

"We need any kind of fundraiser we can get," said Donna Loos , a museum board member, and added that they hope to raise "as much as possible".

Half of the cost of every ticket goes to the museum and diners can receive a charitable donation receipt. Tickets cost $50 per person or $350 for a table for eight.

Seating is available for up to 160 dinner guests and about 100 tickets were still available as of Oct. 5. Tickets can be purchased at the museum or from Superior Office Products.

Drinks will be served starting at 6 p.m. and dinner will be ready at 7 p.m.

Richy Roy, a magician, the STARS Show Choir and local singer Tenille Arts will all perform at the gala.

In addition to the gala itself, there will also be a silent auction, with about 14 items up for bid, ranging from $20 to $85 value. A $1,000 Co-op gift card raffle draw is the other main fundraiser.

"Events like these promise that Weyburn's history will remain available to us," said Jaclyn Kot, temporary manager and assistant manager, in an e-mail.

The money raised will go towards the necessary upkeep of the museum and its exhibits. Loos said they are also hoping to maybe spend some of the money raised on some signage to make it more visible and attract more people to the museum.
