Shoot! winners presented with ribbons

The Weyburn Arts Council held a reception for the Soo Line Camera Club's adjudication award presentation on September 9 at the Allie Griffin Gallery.

Members of the Soo Line Camera Club recently competed in an adjudicated exhibit entitled, 'Shoot!'. They received awards on September 9 during a tea reception hosted by the Weyburn Arts Council. (L-R) Art Beck, winner of Best in Show as well as first place in the Macro and People cateogries, Mary Jacobs, winner of the Fauna category and John Woodward, winner of the Landscape and the Flora categories. The works will be on display until September 28 at the Allie Griffin Gallery.

The Weyburn Arts Council held a reception for the Soo Line Camera Club's adjudication award presentation on September 9 at the Allie Griffin Gallery. Curator Ron Ror presented the awards for first, second and third place as well as honorable mentions for five categories.

In the Landscape cateogry, first place went to John Woodward for 'Fog Rolling In', second went to Kim Schneider for 'Docked on the Rare Saskatchewan Calm Day' and third also went to John Woodward for 'University Bridge'. Natosha Hala was given the honorable mention for 'Prairie Landscape'.

In the People category, first place went to Art Beck for 'Bug on Face', second to Kim Schneider for 'No, I didn't have any' and third to Arthur Wallace for 'Concentration'. Art Beck received an honorable mention for 'Communicants'.

In the Flora category, John Woodward took first place for 'A Rose', Kim Schneider won another blue ribbon for 'Wild, Beautiful but not Forgotten' and Mary Jacobs took third for 'Gazania' as well as the HM for 'Dew on Rose'.

In the Fauna category, Mary Jacobs took first place for 'Copper on Flower' and second for 'Mother and Son'. Art Beck placed third with 'Foxie Pup' and Arthur Wallace received an honorable mention for 'What now?'

The Macro category of close-up shots saw the Best in Show in Art Beck's 'God's Creation', which also took first place. The second place winner was Kim Schneider for 'The Heather of my eye', the third place winner was Mary Jacobs for 'Crab Spider' and Natosha Hala received another honorable mention for 'Gazing Balls'.

The 'Shoot!' exhibit will be on display until September 28 at the Allie Griffin, which is located on the lower level of the Weyburn Public Library.
