Weyburn Arts Council to hold local art search and adjudication

Saskatchewan artist and artisans who are not supported solely by the sale of art work are eligible to enter their works in 'Art Reach', the Weyburn and area local art adjudication.

Saskatchewan artist and artisans who are not supported solely by the sale of art work are eligible to enter their works in 'Art Reach', the Weyburn and area local art adjudication.

The Weyburn Arts Council will be holding their annual Local Adjudication on April 27. Professional artist and adjudicator, Gerri Ann Siwek, has been hired to meet with artists and artisans to provide them with a critique of their works.

Artists and artisans from Weyburn and surrounding areas are encouraged to submit their works of art, which will also be placed on show from March 14 to April 27 at the Signal Hill Arts Centre Gallery, as part of the adjudication process.

Artists chosen at the local level will be invited to submit an exhibition proposal to the OSAC jury in June 2012. This jury will choose a number of artists and artisans to have their work tour the province with OSAC's 'Arts on the Move' program.

The extended deadline for entry is March 9, allowing for a six-week exhibition prior to the adjudication.

Two hands-on workshops, appropriate to artists of any medium, will be offered to both artists and to the public. On April 28, 'The Creative Process' will be conducted by Geri Ann Siwek from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a suggested donation of $25. On April 29, 'Pricing Your Art Work' will be conducted by Patrick Close from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. as a free CARFAC Workshop.
