Gordon Engstrom retired from the board of directors of the Assiniboia Housing Authority after 28 years of dedicated service on October 24. The occasion was marked at the Eastside Court with cake and visiting.
“We all know the importance of volunteer work in our community,” stated Janice Erfle, board chair, who noted that Engstrom had been volunteering on the board since 1989. Engstrom has also leant his talents to volunteer in other organizations and in church. He was a farmer, and still keeps his hand in it today.
Engstrom has been a well-respected board member. “We miss you, we miss your words of wisdom, we’ll miss your smile.” “It was an honour just being able to serve,” said Engstrom for his part.
He was presented with a small gift from the Saskatchewan Housing Authority and a cake.
Along with residents of the Eastside Court and drop in guests, also present at the event were other board members, Janice Erfle, Bonnie Hannah, Les Weiber, Lloyd Paulus and Jim Stengel as well as Leanne Pituliy manager of Assiniboia Housing Authority. Hannah has been on board 19 years and Weiber 17 years.
