Stark & Marsh, a CPA firm based in Swift Current, held the grand opening of its Assiniboia office at the upper curling lounge in the Prince of Wales Centre on October 5.
The event brought the firm’s partners and CEO from Swift Current and included door prizes, office tours, socializing, refreshments and appetizers. Fresh Start catered the event.
The firm invited members of the community and surrounding areas to attend. This event gave the firm members the opportunity to meet clients and other community members.
“We’re excited to be in the Assiniboia marketplace as it’s an extension of the clientele that we have currently been working with in the southwest corner of the province through our Swift Current and Shaunavon offices,” said Stark & Marsh CEO Elden Moberg at the opening. Stark & Marsh has its main office in Swift Current and an office in Shaunovan with 10-12 staff. The Assiniboia office has four staff.
The company’s main office is located in Swift Current, with full time offices also located in Shaunavon, and Assiniboia. Remote office locations include Cabri, Kyle, Leader, Maple Creek, Mankota, Ponteix, and Val Marie.
Stark & Marsh provides accounting services for individuals, small, medium or large businesses and agricultural producers in southern Saskatchewan. It offers a full range of accounting services including specialization in tax advisory, succession planning, business valuations, assurance services and transition plan consulting. The firm also works with non-profit companies and organizations.
“We believe our new office space provides an excellent home for our colleagues, as well as, a comfortable, professional environment for our clientele as well,” Moberg added.
Stark & Marsh opened a full-time office in Assiniboia in September. This was a natural progression in their services. Previously, the company ran a day office in Assiniboia in 2015 that operated one day a month and developed to twice a month.
Now, they have established a permanent office. Moberg said one of the reasons for the expansion was that the firm’s client base was moving further east from Swift Current towards the Lafleche and Wood River area.
He added that a day office to service those clients was established. Later, they saw a need for more complex tax needs in the marketplace.
“A substantive part of the clients is based on agriculture,” said Moberg.
In Assiniboia, the company focuses on services for agricultural producers and small to mid-sized businesses. Stark & Marsh provides consulting services, tax engagement, business valuations, transition plan consulting, and farm succession or farm exit. The company also offers record keeping and does auditing work.
Moberg noted that auditing rule changes now require CPA firms to look after auditing.
