Operation Clean Sweep begins

The City of Estevan's annual Operation Clean Sweep is underway. Operation Clean Sweep is an initiative to give residents the opportunity to do some spring cleaning and beautify the community.

The City of Estevan's annual Operation Clean Sweep is underway.

Operation Clean Sweep is an initiative to give residents the opportunity to do some spring cleaning and beautify the community.

City of Estevan staff and volunteers were out picking up litter from the city’s entrances on Monday. They will be at city-owned properties, including green spaces such as boulevards, medians, parks and natural areas on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, crews will be working in the north part of the city, and on Thursday, the south, by picking up contained organic waste materials such as twigs, leaves and yard refuse from front yards.

Branches must be bundled in three-foot lengths. Leaves and yard refuse must be bagged. They must be out be 8 a.m. on pickup day.

For the last days of Clean Sweep from Friday to Victoria Day, the city will have free landfill service. Freon appliances are not included, and the city won’t accept hazardous materials.

The landfill will be open 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday and Victoria Day, and 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
