With an ambitious goal in place, the Estevan United Way will hold its 35th annual telethon Friday at the Royal Canadian Legion.

The United Way will be seeking to raise $300,000.35 which is the highest goal in the organization's history but certainly an attainable one after they raised over $350,000 last year. The extra 35 cents is in recognition of the telethon's 35th anniversary.

With the theme "Change Starts Here," the telethon will kick off Friday at 8 a.m. and carry on until 5 p.m. Saturday. As always, Access Communication will be broadcasting the event.

Students from local schools will be providing the bulk of the entertainment on Friday while a number of local groups and individuals will take the stage Saturday. Estevan native Chris Henderson and his band will wrap up the telethon by performing over the final two hours.

Trevor Gowen and Gene Stephany will be co-hosting throughout the telethon once again and will be assisted by Glen Dumontel and Rory Bowerin who will serve as hosts Friday night.

To recognize the United Way and its efforts, the City of Estevan has proclaimed the week of October 10 through 16 Estevan United Way Week and support of the goals and objectives of the United Way. Watch for the United Way flag flying at City Hall and for the United Way logo painted on sidewalks downtown as well.

United Way Estevan is a registered charity with a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of 21 members. There are 18 member agencies registered with United Way Estevan.
