After 40 years of working as a hairdresser, a local woman is now celebrating her time with Cut and Curl salon on Main Street.

Marsha McLean, who has been working at the salon since she was 18-years-old, said she began working there immediately after high school and hasn't looked back since. "My loyal customers are what help me make it in this business", said McLean of her success. "I have two ladies who have come to me to get their hair set once a week for the entire 40 years. I also have several others that have come once a month."McLean's 40 years of hairdressing was celebrated with a lovely party held at the shop. A special cake was made at the Carlyle Co-op and included a beautiful hairdressing themed design and colouring. If that wasn't enough the party was full of finger foods, a large fruit fondue display and a bar with drinks. She also admitted that clients in this generation are much harder to get loyalty from. With so many hairdressers available, the generation doesn't feel the need for the same friendly dedication. She also admitted that it is hard starting out in the hairdressing field and hopes newcomers don't get discouraged too easily. To celebrate, she will soon be going on an exciting adventure to Africa, and is expected to be gone quite a few days during October so be sure to book your appointments with her now.Her own co-workers are a set of young women also possessing large talents. The Cut and Curl salon is located at 206 Main Street, through the same doors as Pearl Boutique. The salon is open Monday through Saturday. For more information or to congratulate Marsha McLean on her 40 years of service call the salon at 453-2420.
