Update: United Way Estevan Telethon sits at more than $113,000

The 33-hour fundraiser has a goal of $343,064 to support its member agencies and community impact projects.

ESTEVAN - The United Way Estevan's Telethon is underway and it has a lofty goal. 

The 47th annual fundraising broadcast, which is happening at the Estevan branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, opened at 8 a.m. on Friday morning and will continue until 5 p.m. on Saturday. It is airing on Access Now and can be streamed on unitedwayestevan.com.

As of Friday evening at 7:30 p.m., the telethon had raised $113,208. The United Way has a goal of $343,064, with the money going to its member agencies and community impact projects.

The fundraiser began with opening ceremonies. Entertainment has been happening throughout the day, with school students occupying the bulk of the slots in the morning. A variety of acts performed in the afternoon and evening. 

To make a pledge, you can call 306-340-4625. The United Way also has dozens of hand-crafted items available throught a silent auction; to submit a bid, call 306-340-4629. The Hearts and Hands Quilting Guild has supplied a quilt for a raffle.
