ESTEVAN - A new physician has started practising in Estevan.

Dr. Alexander Arthur, who was trained in Ghana, has joined the team at the Primacy Medical Centre at Clifton's No Frills, and is working as a general practitioner. He told the Mercury that he likes the rural aspect of medicine, which is what drew him to Saskatchewan.

He has been in Kindersley and North Battleford since coming to the province.

Arthur has enjoyed his time in the community thus far, and has been busy at the clinic. He noted that Estevan is known as the Energy City, but the people of the city also have a lot of kind energy.

"People here helped me find accommodations even before I came, and have been introducing me to all of the activities around," he said.

With Arthur's arrival, there are 12 family physicians in Estevan, plus a general surgeon and an obstetrician/gynecologist.

The next edition of the Mercury will have more on this story.
